There have been many Western theories as to how the First people came to migrate to Australia over 65,000 years ago with little evidence to date of the first migration point into Australia. Aboriginal people in their traditional and historical stories, through oral storytelling, talk about always having been here. Ecologist Professor Corey Bradshaw theorised what Western scientists believe was a route Aboriginal people may have followed, using a super computer and adding in data around known terrain, drinkable water and areas of abundant plant and animal life for food. Highlighting that it was probable that the 70 km route across the ocean from Asia was the more likely route to Australia. This discovery highlights the tenacity and skills of Australia’s First People.
