"In Unit 1, students form their own knowledge and understanding about ideas that have emerged in the Modern World. The ideas examined include assumptions, beliefs, views or opinions that are of local, national or international significance. They consist of, for example: authoritarianism, capitalism, communism, democracy, environmental sustainability, egalitarianism, imperialism, nationalism, and self-determination (QCAA, 2019).
